This week I visited the Houses of Parliament. For those who have been there, you’ll know what I mean when I say that everything seems so small. The House of Commons – where we see the feisty Prime Minister’s Questions and passionate debates – seemed like the set of a soap opera. Like many things in life, it’s only when we get up close and personal that we realise that the things that seem so huge, so awesome and so intimidating, are as normal as the corner shop where we buy our paper. It puts everything into perspective. Despite the hallowed chambers bringing us so many laws and diktats that change people’s lives, the reality is that we too can change lives in our everyday normality. Maybe we can do this in the coming week?
Also this week I heard that another friend had died, this time in Ireland quite unexpectedly. This seems to be a year for gathering in. Those who have moved on now realise the reality of our life here on earth. Despite seemingly unconquerable boundaries, they can see that those restrictions are only illusory. We can achieve anything that we set our minds to. With faith, courage and belief anything is possibleā¦.even if we think the hill we need to climb is huge and unfathomable. Take another look at that challenge this week. In reality, it might not be as big and scary as you thinkā¦.
(Thanks to Freepik for their picture of that hill!)
Lovely words of wisdom Mike and very true. Guess a lot of us lose sight of that and molehills become mountains. Beautiful music and video, really relaxing and contemplative. Another one I will definitely listen to again when I need some mellow chill out time, a whole eight minutes too, wonderful. Thank you.
Lovely words Mike, and a lovely chill out and video.
