“Shutter Island” by Martin Scorsese is not everyone’s cup of tea. But if you like dark, psychological thrillers with a twist I can highly recommend it. It’s not for the faint hearted but in my opinion it’s a moving and thought provoking film. Right at the end, while the credits roll and most people in the cinema get their stuff together and run for the bus, the most beautiful track is played. I’m not sure why Scorsese decided to hide away such a true gem, especially as so many people miss it but now you have the chance to hear it.
As the last Mellow Moments of Summer 2016 – it is quite simply one of my favourite chill out tracks of all time. The music. The words that touch the soul….and those violins that sound as if they’re crying.
Do yourself a favour. Make time for yourself this week as we head into the meteorological season of Autumn and a brand new month. Make sure you won’t be disturbed. Shut the door, put the headphones on and let yourself drift away with this stratospheric track. With the ecstatic voice of Dinah Washington, years after her death, mixed with the creative genius that is Max Richter this is the creme de la creme. Enjoy every sublime moment. x
A lovely MMM.
