It’s a funny old world isn’t it? Last week I mentioned the contrast between the majestic beauty of the Californian Redwood forests and the sinister darkness of Alcatraz. Similarly life has it’s dark and light, its ups and downs. On my way to San Francisco the crew kindly found me a seat in First Class. Unbelievably the fare would have been a ridiculous £10,400. Who in their right mind pays that kind of money? It was a magical experience though….
In sharp contrast on the way home I managed to cling onto the last seat at the back of the bus where the lights jammed on for the whole night flight and the in flight entertainment conked out! When I got home there was a lovely bill waiting for me for the Inland Revenue for just under £1,000. Someone up there has a wicked sense of humour!
In the coming week we’ll all experience brightness and darkness, joy and sadness. It’s all part of life’s lessons and we become the richer for our experience and the interaction with each other. To help set us up for that, here’s a beautifully chilled Mellow Moment from the composer of the Dorset drama set in West Bay, Broadchurch. The video shows all of us gathering together on a Sunday afternoon for coffee, cake and an MMM. Outside you can even see one of my producers on the right, a young looking Richard Jackson playing his trombone.
As we hold hands once more, may your week ahead bring you more melodic trombones than tax bills, greater light than shade and until we meet again more visions of spring than the despair of winter.
Thank you Mike, a lovely MMM, have played it a few times already.
