Over the years we’ve heard some stunning tracks during our chill out sessions, often chosen by you. All of them have touched people in different ways. Some have been upbeat, some more reflective. Every so often I come across one that touches my soul. I am convinced that the universe guides us if we let it. This week I believe it’s guiding us to listen to this track. At times perfectly chilled, at others beautifully upbeat. It has everything – melody, birds, angelic choirs….even elephants if you listen hard enough…oh and real meaning. When I first heard this I was transported to another dimension and I’ve sent a message to the composer to say that. It’s always good to give praise where it’s due! I hope you feel the same way.
Before we listen to it I must let you know that I heard from the lovely Ed Douglas this week. Ed wanted to be remembered to all of our gang. He remembers the good times with great fondness. He’s thoroughly enjoying his new job which has absolutely nothing to do with radio, which is good but equally a great pity as he was a popular presenter who actually connected to his listeners. But we all move on to wherever we’re supposed to be in the grand scheme of things eventually. I also met Alan Carr and Melanie Sykes while I was reading their news on Radio 2 at the weekend. I also got another hug from Zoe Ball before she headed off to the Borneo jungle to see the orang utans. What lovely people.
Some news for you…this week I was privileged enough to present the main business programme for the World Service and this coming week I’ll be bidding them farewell as I get set to be your evening and late reader on all UK local stations Monday to Friday from 7pm until midnight. That all starts at the end of August and runs until the end of October so I’ll be popping up on Paul Mullard’s Late Show although alas we won’t be able to speak as I’ll be syndicating all stations from London. In the meantime, please join me this weekend as I’m on Classic and Smooth plus Heart (I think) Saturday and Sunday.
And as ever, let’s hold hands at the usual time and chill out together with our cherished Mellow Moment. Thanks to Elaine who set this group up 9 years ago, we’re now heading into our 10th year as we had our anniversary last week. Let’s give all of ourselves one big hug and enjoy the most blissful musical creation in celebration. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do and have a great week ahead……
Lovely words again Mike. Thanks for taking the time to pick a lovely MMM. Have a good week.
