After 4 months of broadcasting globally for the World Service I’m heading back to local radio for a couple of months. From Monday I’ll be writing and reading the news for all of the BBC’s UK’s local stations Monday-Friday and broadcasting the news from our studios in London from 1900-0000 and Classic FM/Smooth/Heart most Sundays. I hope you can join me at some stage.
Over the weeks I’ve really enjoyed covering such bizarre financial stories as the fidget spinner craze, through bank fraud to the devastating army worm on this season’s crops in Africa. A large part of my job, apart from getting up at the beautiful hour of 0300 (!), was to find stories and present them to our worldwide audience but specifically for Africa. This week’s Mellow Moments then is a combination of that African influence, combined with a late summer vibe that’s quite appropriate as some of us relax into a long bank holiday weekend.
For the next few moments enjoy a beautiful chill out and look forward to the last few days of August. As I write this the sun is setting at a little past 8 o’clock and next week will be September. Soon the smell of Autumn will be in the air, so while you can enjoy the last hurrah of Summer….
Thank you Mike for a lovely chillout.
