Thanks to those who kept me company through the night on Radio 2 Tuesday night into Wednesday morning as the newsreader retreated to her boudoir with a dreaded lurgy.
Hopefully you can join me on Classic FM or Smooth Sunday afternoon from 1pm on the hour every hour until tea time.
As we head into the last week of January I hope it’s been a less weird month for you than the one I’ve experienced! When strange things happen – including a man shouting at me “imbecile!” for no reason and a group of men barging into the cinema at the climax of a film and shouting abuse at the audience (as happened to me last week) – it can be very hard to not be fearful of everyday life. But carry on we must. Despite so many of us having lurgies at the moment and the weather bringing relentlessly dark, cold days we must continue to have faith, trust and courage to head out into our daily lives and do what we can to reverse the misery and dreariness of the bleak mid winter. For even the darkest of seasons has it’s beautiful elements. The cool, refreshing rain is lapped up by thirsty birds and despite the leafless trees, deep within the earth stirs new life which, given just a few short weeks, will spring through to greet a new season.
So rather than hibernate let’s keep calm, carry on and make a difference. Until next week, I hope you’re as encouraged as I am by the words of Mark Twain as we chill out together….
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do, so throw off the bowlines, sail away from safe harbor, catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore, Dream, Discover.”
Thanks Mike for keeping us “SANE”
Have a great week !! x
