Well here we are a day away from the Winter Solstice and unbelievably just 5 days to Christmas. How on earth did that happen?!
Please join me on Radio 2 from 2300-0700 Saturday 19 into 20 Dec where I’ll be reading the news; then again on Christmas Eve same times. No Midnight Mass for me this year but at least I’ll avoid the calorific sausage rolls and sherry that come afterwards! Unlike Radio 5 Live you have to operate the studio yourself at Radio 2, so hopefully things won’t blow up around me as normal – the boiler’s just blown up for the 4th time!
Whatever you’re doing this Christmas week I hope you manage to have some peaceful, memorable moments and as ever we’ll all join up again on the other side of chrimbo to support each other as ever as we head into a New Year.
In the meantime here’s a blissfully chilled version of Silent Night by deeply troubled yet superbly talented Sinead O’Connor. As we listen to her gorgeous rendition let’s remember her and all people who suffer mentally, as too often they are ignored or told to pull themselves together. Let’s hope that in this tricky period for some, that fear, anxiety and despair will be replaced with hope, reassurance and comfort.

Thank you for a lovely MMM.
